MEDIA LITERACY: "THE TRICKLE UP EFFECT"

In media literacy, there is the "trickle up" effect. This means that the older generations haven't rejected or been bypassed by the new media. They are slowly adopting it. This was evidenced by a dear friend of ours here in Philadelphia, a 73-year-old grandfather of 15 who is trying to keep in touch with his grandkids.
He knows how to text on his phone, but his wife doesn't. He calls instant messaging "texting" also. He calls young people "Youtubers," and now, best of all, he wants to get into "My Face."
