When we pull out of Afghanistan, what will they think then? What did we accomplish? At least they will be able to know that they tried, especially if their hearts were in the right place when they did.Sr. Helena Burns, fsphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09196121481873845379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11789157.post-33047302825573855042010-07-12T17:10:46.044-05:002010-07-12T17:10:46.044-05:00The US has failed to learn from the failures of th...The US has failed to learn from the failures of the British and USSR in Afghanistan. This war is unwinnable. Billions in taxpayers money have been and continue to be wasted whilst many live in poverty and the US plunges towards bankruptcy. What is so sad is to see so many young men slaughtered. And for what? War solves nothing.

Europeans have learned this. Just visit the the First World War burial sites in Belgium and France. It is a harrowing sight. The barbarity of World War Two further cemented the view in Europe that war must be avoided if at all possible.

How many wars would pass the Just War test? I think the judgement of God may be quite severe on many politicians. Sadly too many politicians are brave with lives of young men. How many politicians consider the Law of God?
If politicians were sent to the front wars would soon cease.

As you say in your post:"there's nothing right about war".John Barryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02492900180819129920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11789157.post-48129770569611457222010-07-10T18:13:18.215-05:002010-07-10T18:13:18.215-05:00The soilder who 'wins' a battle must remai...The soilder who 'wins' a battle must remain on the Battlefield until he dies, the memmories, the bloodlust, the stench of burnt flesh, Plato spoke the truth when he said that only the dead have seen the end of war.- JackJust another mad Catholichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10503510474554718305noreply@blogger.com
