Bishop Paprocki is offering true compassion here.
"Be your true self" means love your whole self, body and soul.
(It's a process. You CAN learn to love yourself!) 💓

PASTORAL GUIDE ON GENDER IDENTITY:
https://www.dio.org/policy-book/77-650-gender-identity/file.html
I just watched the 4 short videos of talking points for parents on gender issues recommended in the Guide.
They're pretty good, but I would just make a caveat about the first video. Katy, the host, says that we don't
really know how to treat gender dysphoria or the outcomes of various treatments yet.
This is not true. We do know, there are studies, and "transitioning" to the opposite sex does not have good
outcomes, especially in youth (the younger one transitions, the sooner the regret--not to mention the severe health,
physical, psychological problems that accompany the extremely invasive, often irreversible puberty-blocking,
cross-hormonal and surgical "treatments." (Katy actually goes on to talk about these factors in the other 3 videos,
but if someone only watches the first one, they could easily think that transitioning might be a good option for
their child!)
Bishop Paprocki (in agreement with conscientious psychologists/health professionals) also makes it clear in his
Pastoral Guide
https://www.dio.org/policy-book/77-650-gender-identity/file.html (3rd paragraph) that "transitioning"
is not what the Catholic Church could ever recommend, instead, love, support, listening, counseling and therapy
are needed.
