St. Lawrence, Martyr is my favorite saint because he kept his sense of humor even unto his last words before his cruel end. I've written a historical fiction play called "Rare Coins Spent" that deals with Sixtus, Galenius, Valerian, and St. Lawrence. It exposes the Roman Empire's diminishing rule, early Jewish Christians, a corrupted monetary system and the mythical last few days of Lauro's life in August, 258 A.D.
